Seminar devoted to scientific and cultural knowledge about Poland was held on November 12, 2015 as part of youth exchange program between two Nicolaus Copernicus High Schools from Elbasan and Warsaw. Eight-person representation of Polish students participated in the seminar headed with Warsaw XXXIII High School director Justyna Matejczyk.

In the two panels of the seminar Albanian students, under the leadership of director Natasha Porocani, gave several presentations (in Albanian with translation into English) about Polish history, its culture and literature, traditions, monuments, prominent characters in Polish history, life and work of Nicolaus Copernicus, his time in Poland, the heliocentric theory. The seminar was attended by over 150 people, residents of Elbasan, parents and family members of students, teachers.

The honor guests at the seminar were Ambassador of Poland Marek Jeziorski and three-person delegation of the Albania-Poland Friendship Society’s leadership: Ermal Dobi, Leonard Zissi and Petrit Dollani. Members of the Friendship Society, who are graduates of Polish universities, answered questions on possibilities and conditions of studying in Poland and their impressions of the period of their stay in our country. They also pointed out the differences and common elements in the traditions and culture of Poland and Albania.

The seminar was an excellent promotion of Poland, the first event of this kind in the historic city of Elbasan. It contributed to the promotion in Albania of the knowledge of Polish history, science and culture. The seminar’s strong element was the active involvement of the local educational environment and youngsters. The important occasion was the 10th anniversary of the Elbasan Non-Public Nicolaus Copernicus High School and the attendance of guests from the Warsaw friendly high school.

On the same day, Polish and Albanian students and teachers visited the Embassy of Poland in Tirana, where they were received by Ambassador Marek Jeziorski. Both schools plan further cooperation and exchange. Embassy of Poland in Tirana and Albania-Poland Friendship Society will continue its support for the implementation of these plans.
